The show began acknowledging all that is going on in the world. Then Morgan and Laura took turns in a "favorite player draft". Laura gave you one player to love from each of the 31 NHL teams and Morgan gave you one player to love from each of the 30 MLB teams. As always, we finished the show with rant and rave. Akim Aliu had a great article this week in The Players’ Tribune titled Hockey Is Not For Everyone. Morgan and Laura dove into all of the profound points in the article as well as the broader topic of inclusivity in sports, why it matters, and some of the shortcomings they’ve seen. This is such a large and important topic so this will definitely be talked about again in the future.
It's Laura's turn to deep dive a topic this week. She explains all the ins and outs of the NHL salary cap. From how to evaluate contracts to how cap hits are calculated to restricted and unrestricted free agency there's a lot of ground covered.
