At Sunset
Normally I like taking blog pictures in the morning. Usually it's cooler out, although June in Texas cooler just means 90 instead of 100. Not only is the weather at least bearable, I also prefer to get pictures taken in the morning, block out about an hour, and get it over with. Honestly, that way if I do nothing else for the day, at least I know I did something that contributed to the blog and I feel accomplished. Then one day I was driving around, it was about 7 p.m. and found this neighborhood that looked literally picture perfect with the sun starting to go down behind it.So I decided why not take some pictures later at night? But here's the thing, I don't like to do much of anything except watch baseball and write blog posts at night. By night, I mean after 6 p.m. I'm very much a homebody and have no problem admitting that. I like laying in bed, hair in a messy bun, no makeup, a big comfy t-shirt and leggings, just relaxing. In fact, as I'm writing this post I'm doing exactly that, Rangers t-shirt, leggings, MLB Plays of the Week on the TV, and the Hamilton soundtrack on repeat. So the idea of taking pictures at 7, making sure my makeup hasn't melted off my face and hair still looks ok, still being dressed and out of the house, wasn't something I was necessarily thrilled about, but I couldn't get the image of how pretty the sun going down on that neighborhood looked out of my head.Luckily, there was a really good breeze going this night and it wasn't unbearably hot.It was basically perfect.I was so happy I decided not to be a homebody for an hour and take pictures, especially for that first picture at the top of this post. As someone who loves taking pictures (wayyyy more than actually getting my picture taken which probably contradicts this blog. Whatever.) that picture is probably my favorite, because it's exactly how I pictured and hoped it would look with the sun going down. While I still prefer taking pictures in the morning and kind of just getting it over with (probably bad to say but I'm being honest), taking pictures as the sun is going down is now my new favorite time to take pictures. The lighting is just absolutely gorgeous and I'm kind of obsessed.I'm sure it'd be just as beautiful if I took pictures as the sun was rising, but along with being a homebody, I'm also a night owl so getting up early... let's just say I'm not a morning person.
