2017 Goals
I'm not one to make resolutions at the beginning of a year. I get both sides of the argument of making resolutions, some think they're great and others think it's stupid. Great, meaning a new year, a new start, fresh outlook. Stupid, you don't need a new year to have a new outlook. Personally, I'm not for or against either argument, I usually just forget my "resolutions' or just don't commit to them and just go about my year making different goals throughout. So this year I decided to write down my goals, and hopefully by doing so I'll want to stick with them. So here are my seven goals for 2017.
1.PHOTOGRAPH MORE
I made this goal mid-2016 and kind of failed on it. I really love taking photos and I haven't done as much of it as I want to. So this year I really want to go out and just explore, find inspiration, and just take a million photos.
2. WATCH MORE BASEBALL
You probably didn't think this would be possible considering 6 months out of the year I eat, sleep, and breathe baseball. However, this year I've decided I'm going to get in on minor league baseball. I live about 20 minutes away from the Rangers double A team, the Frisco RoughRiders and I've only been to one game...10 years ago. So this year, I'm going to go to as many games as I can tolerate before Texas gets horrendously hot.
3. FIND A NEW SPORT
I live for baseball and I can talk my way around a football game decently enough. And that's about where the sports knowledge ends. I'll be honest, basketball just doesn't hold my attention. Which I'm sure to basketball fans that sounds ridiculous since most people seem to think baseball is slow. But at least baseball doesn't have timeouts with half a second left in overtime, pretty sure you can't overcome a 10 point deficit in that time, just saying. I've tried watching hockey and that's basically the opposite of basketball, it's so fast my head spins and I have no idea what's happening. But this year I'm going to try to get into a new sport, or at least partially comprehend one. I'm leaning towards hockey, so wish me luck. Honestly, this will be my toughest goal, mostly because I'm impatient and get frustrated pretty quickly when it comes to not understanding a sport.
4. READ MORE
I used to devour books. In high school, I always looked forward to any free time, even if it was just five minutes, so I could read whatever book I had in my backpack. Since we were basically required to always have a book, I finished at least a book a week. But since I graduated almost 4 years ago, I've probably read a book or two a year. Which is pretty sad.So for Christmas I asked for and received a stack of baseball books. I already had a few books I wanted to read just sitting on my bookshelf but wasn't in the mood for the darker fiction books and since it's the off-season I needed some baseball in my life. I've finished one so far, so I'm already on pace to really excel at this goal!
5. WRITE MORE
I definitely wrote more last year than the year before and this year I want to keep getting better. This goal should be pretty easy to fulfill since I'll be a sports writer for my university's paper (there isn't a baseball team, so this should probably help with goal number three as well!) Not only will I most likely be writing a story once a week for the paper, I'd really like to write at least 3 posts of some kind on here as well.
6.STICK WITH ROUTINES
I'm really miserable at routines... unless you count watching 162 baseball games a year a routine? Wait, does daily Starbucks count as a routine? Or are those classified as addictions? Don't answer that. :/I'm really good with a routine for a couple weeks and then it completely falls apart. Especially when it comes to a workout routine and a skincare routine. I'm pretty sure this goes back to being impatient and wanting seeing results instantly so when I'm not seeing an improvement, I get frustrated and just forget it all. Not the best mentality but I'll work on that as well.
