Sweater + Dress + Tights = Perfect Winter Layering
Somehow it’s been six months since I last made an outfit post?! Seriously the last few months have flown by way faster than I thought it would with being my last semester of college. I thought for sure it would go at a snail’s pace but here we are, four days before Christmas and 2018 closing out!
I was hoping to have this posted earlier this morning, but instead of writing this on Thursday before I went to my first Dallas Stars game in 10 years, I’ve been binge watching Madam Secretary on Netflix.
This was the outfit I wore on the last day of my internship and I loved it so much I had to repeat it for the blog. The navy print dress is from H&M and on sale for just $10, I linked it below. When I ordered it, H&M had just changed their sizing and it was fairly large on me.
I’ve mentioned before I like over-sized clothes for the most part, it was a little bigger than I like but I’m pretty good at shrinking clothes in the wash so I kept it.
Well it shrunk a little more than I wanted and it didn’t feel all that comfortable to wear during the summer, but something told me to keep it and I’m so glad I did! It’s perfect to wear over tights and I love layering sweaters that are a little more cropped and dresses in the winter. Since the dress is short sleeve, it makes it even more perfect for layering without sweating once you get inside!
I highly recommend the sweaters from American Eagle, they’re all super soft and cozy. I’ve layered this one over dresses and button down shirts and it’s perfect! One thing I will say, the knit on this is kind of open so I’ve gotten caught on a number hooks, just one thing to be aware of.
The booties are from target and super comfortable! I wore them at my graduation last weekend, the heel is a little chunky and not terribly high so they’re super easy to walk in.
The purse was a graduation gift to myself! I really wanted a cute, somewhat structured, mini bag and this one from target is perfect! I really wanted a dark green bag since it would be a neutral that could work all year. Green is also my University’s color and it worked perfectly for the stars game last night! For it being so small, it holds a lot! I thought I’d have to change to a smaller wallet but it fit my regular wallet perfectly!
Safe to say I’ll be repeating this outfit quite a bit!
